My Franklin research is dismal. I've searched for 25 years
and never found a solid connection. We were told we were distant cousins
to Benjamin Franklin. I think all Franklins were told that! However, the
older generations were very proud of that Franklin name, and even named
a daughter Pearl "Franklin". Lucinda, linked below is the only solid
Franklin I have. She was born in Bedford County, TN. in 1832. There was
a Peter Franklin on the Bedford County, TN census in 1830, but not in
1840. However, Rachael, Lucinda's mother (or possibly grandmother) was
head of house in 1840. Rachael was found living with Lucinda on one
census, and Indiana and Lorenzo Smith on another. Rachael and Indiana
were obviously connected to her, but Peter is undocumented as yet. I
haven't found a will, or record of estate. I did find a deed where Peter
Franklin bought the land in Bedford County, TN from Hawkins County, TN.
Lucinda's father was b in VA. Hawkins County is near the border of VA
and TN - just another hint. No proof.
