Cecil Lowe, as an uncle, was one of my very favorites. It took me a long
time to get to really know him, but I was fortunate enough to live by him
as an adult with a family. He had a riotous dry wit, and could keep a
straight face while spinning the biggest yarn! He was one of the most
patient people I have ever known. I remember seeing him sit for
hours, with a shotgun aimed at the ground . Eventually, I heard a big boom
and saw him carry off a dead gopher that had been getting in his vegetable
garden. I used to kid him about watching his garden grow. He did love
gardening and had the most beautiful vegetables. He was also quite the
fisherman. Aunt Nina made lovely quilts, and many other crafty things. She was friendly and outgoing. She loved music, and I once heard her yodel! She was a fun loving person and a wonderful companion to Cecil. They had a lovely family, and I enjoyed visiting them as a child. Cecil worked at the highway department, and Nina worked for the schools. They were lucky to get her too, because she was a terrific cook! |
